Around Skiathos by Boat: Lalaria, Kastro and Tsougria Compared

Updated October 20, 2026 · 4 min read

White pebbles and a natural rock arch at the foot of cliffs, with turquoise water in front

For most people, book the cruise to Lalaria, Kastro and Tsougria, from €48 per person for 7 hours, 4.0 stars from 127 reviews. It names the swim stop at Lalaria; the Sea and Sun cruise with more reviews (541) does not name its beach. If you want the shortest and most private way in, choose the private Lalaria and caves speedboat tour: €560 per group of up to 4, 3 hours, 4.9 from 42 reviews. Lalaria can only be reached by boat, so the sea decides the day.

What you actually see

Lalaria is a white pebble beach under cliffs, reachable only from the water. The Blue Caves are sea caves on the north coast, and Kastro is the old abandoned capital on its rock. Tsougria is a small island with swim stops. The two trips with Lalaria in the title cover these in one loop. The Sea and Sun cruise instead passes the Blue Caves and stops at a white-pebble beach for swimming or relaxing; its listing does not mention Kastro or Tsougria.

The private speedboat is built differently: the listing promises snorkelling at the Blue Cave and swimming at Lalaria, in a third of the time. At €560 for a group of 4 it works out at €140 per person, close to the price of a sailing day, so it only makes sense if you value the schedule and privacy.

What can go wrong

  • Wind. Strong northerly winds, the summer meltemi, can make Lalaria inaccessible, and operators then change the route. Ask the operator what the alternative is.
  • Two near-identical Lalaria trips. They sit at 4.0 and 3.9 stars; look at the most recent reviews rather than the average.
  • Anyone prone to seasickness should ask a pharmacist or doctor for individual advice.
