Mostly not. The best-known locations, such as the Agios Ioannis chapel at Kastri, are on neighbouring Skopelos. Day cruises from Skiathos Town go there and back; the Skiathos departures take roughly seven hours.
No. Lalaria, with its white pebbles and cliffs at the north-east tip, can only be reached by boat. Island cruises and speedboat trips stop there, but whether and for how long depends on sea conditions and the operator – read the trip description.
Roughly an hour to Skopelos (30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on vessel and port) and about 1.5 hours to Alonissos, with several sailings a day in summer. A day cruise takes seven to nine hours but includes swim stops and, on some routes, lunch.
For boat trips, no: they leave from Skiathos Town, which is compact and about 2 km from the airport. A bus runs along the south coast to Koukounaries, about 15 km west of town (roughly 30 minutes). A car or scooter helps for the quieter beaches and the north, but it is not a must.
Skiathos has its own airport (JSI), with seasonal flights from several European cities. By sea, ferries run from Volos (about 1 hour by Flying Dolphin, 1h40 by high-speed ferry, 2h45 by conventional ferry) and from Agios Konstantinos (2h20 to 3 hours).
Not much, and that is the honest answer: Skiathos is a beach-and-boat island. Land offers are few – a wine evening with views, a town walk, a dog-shelter visit with a hike and cooking class. If you want ruins or big museums, plan a day trip to the mainland instead.
